Good thing! I think it's tacky personally but it's just as good for praying. I think the difference is having a "traditional" one draws you on a material level into a traditional aesthetic that speaks of generations and generations, whereas a more faddish one is just that, and might be a distraction in and of itself while meditating on timeless things. But for personal use either is fine. Often children's Rosaries are quite colourful.
